Don’t worry, we’re here to advise you on exactly what you should and shouldn’t do when it comes to data leaks. Here’s what you should do : DO Consult the ‘Have I Been Pwned’ website. Have I Been Pwned provides you with the ability to cross-check an email address against multiple data breaches. All you need to do is enter your email address and click the ‘pwned?’ button. If your details have been compromised, the screen will flash red and you’ll be shown the specific sites that leaked your logins. There’s also the option to be notified if your email address gets leaked in any future breaches. While Have I Been Pwned is a useful tool, it’s also not a 100% guarantee that you’re safe. The website will continuously update its leaked databases but it doesn’t have access to everything. If you suspect your data has been leaked despite Have I Been Pwned saying otherwise, you should still take the necessary safety precautions. DO Change all your passwords Ok, so you’re pretty sure your data has been leaked. It’s time to change the passwords of all your online accounts. Banking, email, work, everything.
