NordVPN’s Cyber Risk Index (CRI): What’s your risk?

Moreover, users in similar countries reported widely different rates. This was the beginning of a huge cybersecurity research project. We partnered up with Statista and collected almost 40 indicators, which fell into 4 categories: - socio-economic (e.g., population, education, employment, GDP), - digital (e.g., internet, smartphone, online services penetration), - cyber (e.g., data protection laws, Global Cybersecurity Index, punishment for cybercrime), - and crime (e.g., total crime, cybercrime, losses due to cybercrime). We evaluated the impact these factors had on cyber risk, trimmed them down to the 14 most significant, and used them to create the Cyber Risk Index (CRI). From 0 to 1, the Index predicts the risk of becoming a cybercrime victim depending on the country you live in. The higher the Index, the higher the risk.
