NewsThis video walks through the process of using AirDrop from an iPhone 14 Pro, to share files with a MacBook. AirDrop is a utility provided by Apple that enables fast and convenient file transfers, even for large files, without relying on Wi-Fi or cell data. Before starting, make sure that both the sender and recipient are close to each other, ideally within 30 feet. The next step is to open the Control Center by swiping down from the right-hand side of the screen. It's critical to check that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are active, and the Personal Hotspot function is switched off. In the Control Center, long-press on the Network Settings Card, located at the top-left corner, to open it. Tap the AirDrop icon to see an options menu with three settings. The "Contacts Only" setting restricts AirDrop to known contacts. The "Everyone" option temporarily allows anyone nearby to send and receive files via AirDrop. The "Receiving Off" setting allows users to send files but not receive them. Setting up AirDrop on the MacBook requires opening a Finder window and selecting AirDrop from the sidebar. Below the large AirDrop logo, there's an option that allows the MacBook to be discovered by others. This option should be enabled based on your preferences. With AirDrop set up on both devices, sharing a photo is ready! Open the Photos app and select the photo to share. Tapping the Share icon and then the AirDrop icon brings up the contact selection screen. If the recipient doesn't appear, double-check that Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and AirDrop are enabled on their device. Once the recipient is selected, the photo is sent. When a file is sent, the recipient gets an alert on their device. After accepting the file, it goes directly to the Downloads folder, like a file downloaded from Safari in MacOS. AirDrop is helpful and easy to use.
